Jackie and Ryan

Jackie and Ryan had a beautiful intimate wedding and reception with their family and friends at the Alton Mills Art Centre on October 20th, 2018. The venue has a very rustic and quaint appeal which matches the theme of their wedding. The wedding ceremony was held right outside of the centre in the Annex courtyard. This venue doesn’t need a lot of decor to make it look good due to the character of the aged stone walls surrounding the courtyard. The green garland arch was all that was needed to make for a beautiful backdrop and add a nice pop of colour to the images.

Although summer is a popular time to get married for obvious reasons, I like shooting weddings at this time of year for the beautiful colours of autumn. I love the way Jackie and Ryan incorporated these colours into the bridesmaids dresses and bouquets. Another advantage of fall weddings from a photography standpoint is that the chance of having direct sunlight is reduced so people don’t get sweaty and the soft lighting makes for more flattering photos.
